Nadia’s translation is being supported by a number of organizations/ individuals, with different experiences from a variety of sectors, serving as reviewers of the initial translation and final publication which will be available around the world free of charge just like the English version of the GDIB.
Given the different varieties of French that exist, it is not easy to create a translation that will work around the world. Pictured above-with the winter still going strong in Montreal-Nathalie, Nadia and Stéphane’s initiative will support la Ville’s evolving diversity objectives and make the GDIB accessible and understandable by a greater number of people. They plan to use the translated version as one of their strategies to develop a new three-year diversity plan. Nathalie and Stéphane are the primary diversity leads for la Ville and their interest in the GDIB led to their commitment to have Nadia complete the translation. Given the success of this program, two additional pilots are being launched in March 2019 for persons with disabilities and aboriginal peoples. Since the program’s inception in 2006, over 552 trainees have been provided work experiences with La Ville, including Nadia.
